Bonton Clinic: A Unique Collaboration Between Rotary Club of Park Cities and Bonton Farms

Bonton Farms, (known as Dallas' first urban farm) is situated on a 1.25-acre lot nestled within the community of Bonton in southeast Dallas. The farm is now one of the largest urban farms in the United States with the addition of 40 acres in southeast Dallas. In addition to rows of fresh organic produce, the farm is home to free-range chickens, goats, turkeys, and rabbits. Bonton's mission is to restore lives, create jobs, and ignite hope in a once forgotten and neglected neighborhood. Before Bonton, access to fresh food was nonexistent.  Because of that, the cardiovascular disease rate is 54% higher, diabetes is 45% higher and cancer is 58% higher than other parts of Dallas. And because of this, many residents are too sick to work, which perpetuates the vicious cycle of poverty.

Rotary Club of Park Cities is guided by our motto, “Service above Self”. The club membership was challenged to form this partnership and overwhelmingly committed to raise money to meet the need for the finish out of the clinic and that will bring healthcare to the community.

RCPC Goals:

  • Provide healthcare services to the Bonton community through the establishment of the Bonton Clinic & will include space for a medical clinic and a health and wellness program
  • Provide funding for the construction, finish out of the clinic, and basic primary medical equipment, including exam tables, vital sign testing equipment, BP cuffs, and otoscopes
  • Raise $150,000 through a lead donation of $50,000 from the Rotary Club of Park Cities
